San Diego Laser Hair Removal

Hair Laser Removal was performed experimentally and initially for many years before it became available for the general public in the 1990’s. There are several spas and establishments in the San Diego area that offer Hair Laser Removal. Because of the climate and weather conditions in the San Diego area more people are interested in Hair Laser Removal than in other cities in the U.S. Most people think that women are the primary candidates for Hair Laser Removal and in fact more and more men are opting for hair laser removal because of the permanent nature of the treatment.

Laser and light-based methods, sometimes called phototricholysis or photoepilation, are now most commonly referred to collectively as “laser hair removal”. One of the first published articles describing laser hair removal was authored by the group at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1998.

Hair Laser Removal is now generally accepted in the dermatology community, and laser hair removal is widely practiced. The main principle behind laser hair removal is selective photothermolysis (SPTL). Lasers typically cause damage by selectively heating dark target matter, (melanin), in the area that causes hair growth, (the follicle), while limiting the heat that impacts the rest of the skin.

Hair removal is typically performed on backs, lips, chins, ear lobes, buttocks, bikini lines, shoulders, underarm, abdomen, pubic area, bikini lines, chest, arms, legs, hands, toes, thighs, and face. Men typically use Hair Laser removal to remove unwanted hair on chest and back and women tend to use hair laser removal for a wider range of areas. Laser works best with dark coarse hair and is not nearly effective with lighter hairs – and is basically ineffectual on gray hair. The ideal combination is light skin and dark hair but new lasers are now used for patients with dark black hair and dark skin.

Laser hair removal has become popular because compared to other techniques it is more efficient and permanent depending on the type of technology and skill of operator.  Many patients see results after the first treatment and with typically 5-12 treatments are needed to have desired effects. After the initial set of treatments some clients will need touch up treatments to catch hairs that were not in a growth phase initially. There also some cases in which some patients don’t respond to treatments at all.

Electrolysis is another option for hair removal and there are several professionals in the San Diego area that offer this service. Hair Laser Removal is quickly replacing the use of electrolysis for hair removal and the one exception as to when electrolysis is more beneficial is when the hair is fine and light-colored. Some patients actually use a combination of treatments.

Hair laser removal treatments should typically be spaced out by 3-12 weeks in order to allow for new phases of hair growth to emerge. This also is beneficial for patients in order to spread out the expense of hair laser treatments. Spacing of treatments also depends on the individual response to treatment. A patient should wait until they have experienced shedding of the treated hairs, which typically happens in a few weeks after each session.  Many clients also get the treated areas shaved during treatment and they will need to wait for the hair to grow back before further treatment.

Hair removal lasers can also be effective when treating ingrown hairs or shaving bumps also known as pseudofolliculitis barbae . It has also been reported as a helpful treatment for pilonidal cysts, since they eliminate the ingrown hairs that often times precede these cysts.

Risks associated with hair laser removal treatments include slight chance of burning or discolored skin and this is more possible when treating darker skin. Some patients also report swelling, scabbing, and acne in the treated areas.

Does SmoothAway hair removal work? (If not, any better suggestions than shaving and waxing)?

The Smooth Away hair removal pads are advertised on TV all the time and look legit, but do they work? Is there anyone who has bought them and tried them that can tell me more about them? How often to you have to use them, do they chafe your skin or leave it smooth, anything you can tell me would be helpful.

Learn More About Effective Hair Removal

There is no girl or woman who is not conscious of beauty and appearance. They use all sorts of cosmetics and tricks to enhance beauty to look beautiful. One area regarding their beauty that concerns them the most is effective hair removal. Every girl and woman wants to get rid of unwanted hair so that their skin looks silky soft and smooth always.

Apart from cosmetic treatment, hair removal is also good in keeping hygiene of the body. Women are always on the lookout of such hair removal methods that are not only effective but permanent as well so that they do not have to undergo the process as a ritual from time to time.

Various methods of hair removal

There are various methods to remove unwanted hair growth from the body. Some of those methods are:

Waxing

Waxing is one of the most conventional methods of hair removal. This method pulls the hair out from the roots and gives a silky finish so that the area, which has been waxed, becomes very smooth and soft to touch. The only drawback is that it causes a lot of pain when waxing is performed. The wax is properly applied on the body area where waxing is to be done along with waxing strips and then peeled off with a jerk once the wax cools off. All the hair is pulled out from their roots and thus takes quite some time to grow back. These days, increasing numbers of men are also getting their backs and chests waxed to have a smoother body.

Use of lasers

The use of lasers for hair removal is the latest and technologically advanced method. This is a very effective method and provides a relief permanently from the procedure of removing hair every now and then. In this method, a small beam of laser is applied over the area from which the unwanted hairs are to be removed. With the heat of this beam the roots of the hairs are destroyed and thus there is no hair growth over that area again. This treatment takes time to accomplish the task fully and is slightly expensive.

Shaving

Shaving is the quickest method that can be used, especially if one is in a hurry. Gel or foam is applied over the area, which needs hair removal. With a sharp razor the hair are removed very easily from that area. This is so far the cheapest and the quickest method of hair removal. This is a temporary method as the hair grows back very quickly.

Hair-removal creams

Hair-removal creams are also a great rage these days as they remove hair very easily, conveniently and without causing any pain. Also they do not have any risks of causing any accidental cuts that are quite possible with shaving. The cream is simply used over the hairy area and is to be rinsed with some water after a while.

These methods are basically classified in terms of their effectiveness in removing body hair and as per the time taken for the hair to grow back.
