The Harley Medical Group reveals the British profession most likely to have cosmetic treatments

(PRWEB UK) 7 October 2011

British celebrities with various professions, including chef Gordon Ramsay, TV presenter Kay Burley and fashion designer Victoria Beckham, all openly admit to having cosmetic treatments.

Inspired to reveal the professionals most likely to have treatments, The Harley Medical Group has found that it is actually those in the military who are most likely to have cosmetic treatments.

The Group conducted a survey across its 31 clinics in the UK and Ireland which revealed the military made up over 8% of bookings in the last six months, with patients choosing non-surgical treatments such as Botox, dermal fillers and surgeries such as otoplasty and gynaecomastia.

Top Five Professions Most Likely to Have Cosmetic Surgery

1. Military

2. Teachers

3. Policeman

4. City Workers

5. Hairdressers & Beauticians

Says Lisa Littlehales, Lead Nurse Counsellor at The Harley Medical Group: “Often patients who are in very active professions such as the military, opt for treatments as they feel they begin to look older than they feel, as their faces age more obviously than their bodies. Patients in the military profession also comment that playful banter in the mess encourages them to look into surgical options.

“Active celebrities such as Maria Sharapova, Mike Tindall, Jermain Jenas and Shane Warne, have all had cosmetic treatments. This type of patient is a great candidate for surgery, as they take regular exercise, generally eat healthily, don’t drink to excess or smoke and are in excellent health.”

The Harley Medical Group Patient and Army Corporal Danielle Hagget, 23, comments on her reasons behind having otoplasty: “I always hated my ears but after joining the army I began to notice them more, as I always have to wear my hair up, drawing even more attention to my ears. Being in a male oriented environment, there is often playful banter within my unit, although this is always a bit of fun, it also gave me the push I needed to go ahead with surgery and I decided to take the opportunity to save for my procedure while I was in Afghanistan. My surgery has given me a massive confidence boost, which has really helped my career – it’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.”

Five Most Common Laser Hair Removal Treatment Areas

Young girls or women in their twenties often get hassled because of unwanted hair in different areas of their body. Some go for waxing or depilatory creams while few others use shaving or tweeters to remove stubborn dark hairs that grow even though the body may be producing normal sex hormones. These methods are however, temporary and often give you pains and aches without proper removal of the hair. You can even bruise your skin while shaving it. Moreover, incessant shaving can make the skin course. Why take all this trouble when you can effortlessly get a permanent cure in getting rid of the hair you don’t want?

Laser Technology – A Saving Grace for Hirsute Ladies

If you want to quickly, effectively, and permanently remove unwanted hair in your body, you should use laser hair removal treatment. Additionally, this type of treatment is safe and can be performed in delicate and intricate areas as well. In places where the skin is soft and scars or wounds can ruin your look further, laser hair treatment is done that suavely removes dark thick hair growth or even smaller, lighter hairs.

Generally, 4-to-6 sessions are required within a span of months that effectively reduces hair growth by 80 percent or so. The technology is safe and simple as the laser rays target melanin pigments in the hair follicles. The sharp rays target the hair and break it down – completely. Today, the laser hair removing miracle is used popularly in five major areas in the human body. Check out some useful tips and advice on these major areas in the following paragraphs.

Maintaining Smooth Legs sans Hairs

Legs, especially the part that remains below the knees, often have incessant thick hairs. Women with this problem cannot wear apparels where the legs are visible. Often in desperation, they shave off regularly or undergo waxing. However, shaving many times causes cuts and bruises while waxing causes pain and burns. Moreover, hairs soon start coming out within 4-to-5 days of getting the legs waxed.

If you have thick black hairs, you are in luck! The YAG laser removing treatment sends long wave laser beams that target the dark and think hair follicles, hair bulb, and hair pigments. It does not burn the skin as the skin has a lighter pigmentation. The operation lasts for roughly 2 hours or even less. The area considered for this treatment is from ankle to area near the hip. It is even possible to take up laser treatment from ankle to an area above the knee – as this area remains visible when women where skirts.

Doing Up a Perfect Smooth Face without Pesky Hairs

Although facial hair may not be a dense one, yet traces of hair follicles in the chin, cheek, forehead, and sideburns can cause embarrassment to the lady in concern. Abnormal hair growth can often occur due to hormonal changes. Unwanted hair can suddenly crop up in the upper lip area. Men too, take recourse to facial hair laser treatment if they want to remove razor burn scars.

The cost incurred for removing hair in the upper lip area through laser therapy would be around 400 Dollars or more. The other area that comes under facial hair removal therapy includes chin, neck, nape, side burns, forehead, and ears. Remember to keep a span of 2 weeks to get another laser treatment done on your face.

Keeping Bikini Spotless Minus Hairs

If you are planning to sunbathe at a plush beach in theCaribbean, make sure your bikini area is sans hair. You can feel confident without it. For those having thick hair growth should ideally opt for the laser technique as it effortlessly, quickly, and entirely removes even small hair growths. You can even opt to get the entireBikiniarea hairless – popular known as the Brazilian technique.

Patients who have undergone this technique have reported that there are no burns or sensitivity in the delicate area. If you get a slight discomfort or sensation, a top laser treating clinic would provide an additional cooling treatment through Zimmer Cooler. There can be a series of such treatments as all hair follicles don’t grow at the same time. Some are at the resting stage during a laser treatment and escape the therapy. To address these resting hairs yet another session of the treatment is done.

Staying Easy Bare Chest

Although hirsute men often have good amount of chest hair, many want to clean it off because it can cause discomfort and embarrassment also. Models, swimmers, and divers who have to go public bare chest often take up hair removal techniques to remove thick hair growths. However, waxing or shaving can be very painful indeed as the hair growth is immense and hair follicles are strong. Laser therapy is done to ensure there is permanent cure of the thick growth.

But easy said than done, chest hair removal through laser is also painful for people who have course hair growth. Ensure that the treatment is accomplished through an experienced doctor at a well-equipped clinic.

Showing Off Hairless and Smooth Back Effortlessly

There are hirsute ladies with hair almost everywhere in the body – including their back. If you want to look sexy wearing backless garments, it’s best to go for laser therapy for a perfect and lasting cure. Why look shabby with pesky hairs showing on your back? Waxing or shaving is not a great idea as it can be very painful. Creams also don’t effectively remove the hair. And, you also cannot do it yourself. Laser therapy is done with few sessions and you can be sure of removing the unwanted hairs.

Keep in mind some precautions while undergoing laser hair removal treatment in these 5 common areas. Before the therapy, don’t use self tanners, or for plucking, electrolysis, and depilatories. Seek further opinion from experts if you have a blonde or whitish hair color, polycystic ovaries, and abnormal hormone secretion.

Using laser beams are quite in vogue now if you take the correct precautions, seek the ideal medical help, and follow after-operation safety measures.

Q&A: What’s the most effective hair removal technique?

Question by Beth: What’s the most effective hair removal technique?
I am a female with an unusual amount of body hair. I have hair everywhere. My upper lip, lower back and butt, stomach, breasts…pretty much everywhere a woman should not have hair, I DO! It is thick and dark also. I have tried shaving but that gets tedious and grows back fast, also I have sensitive skin so sometimes I shave and have a nasty rash afterwards. What can I do??? I am so ashamed of my body, I don’t feel sexy at all and I’m sick of having to shave all the time.

hello!!!
I do have a lot of hair too! I tried everything from shaving to wax! But at the begining of the year my friend told me about lasser. It is great! I did 10 sessions and I am hairless!!!! It´s amazing! The only thing is that you need to find a good place to do it! Maybe you can check online for lasser treatment for hair removal and it will get you options. It´s more expensive than shaving at first but the hair will go forever!!!! so just think that it is an investment and that you will see results in the fisrt month! Just an advice, try no to do it in the summer time because skin gets really sensitive al the begining. Good luck!

What is the most effective permanent laser hair removal method?

Question by hey: What is the most effective permanent laser hair removal method?
I have been researching for a while and don’t know what type of permanent hair removal is the most effective? I have been fooled before and i can’t afford to waste money on any more ineffective and pricey sessions.

Answer by Dekel
Hi,
There are more answers than a simple yes/no question..
There are many ways to get rid of un wanted hair.
Electrolysis is the only permanent way, of them all. A small Electric pulse burns the root off the hair, and that is that. End of hair growth. But..
It means burning each and every hair root, and there are thousands of them..
Laser – will project high LIGHT energy and hair will decrease drastically.
Both will need some sessions.
Both have specific dangers you must know before you choose.
